The Difference

Glass Railings, Installed by Our Own Team

Most deck builders sub out glass railings to a third-party installer, then everyone points fingers if a panel is wrong or a post is off. We do not do that.

Our parent company, Pure One LLC, also runs a glass repair and installation company in the same area. That team cuts, tempers, and installs the railing panels directly. One point of contact, one crew on site, one warranty.

Frameless glass panels run $125-$250 per linear foot installed, depending on post hardware and panel height.

Common Questions

Honest answers to the five questions we hear on almost every first call.

My deck has rotten boards - can you repair just those, or do I need a full rebuild?

In most cases we can repair just the rotten or soft boards and leave the rest of the deck alone. Our rule of thumb is the 30% structural threshold: if less than about 30% of the joists, beams, or ledger have structural rot, targeted repair is almost always the right call. Board-only swaps run $18 per square foot repaired, with most homeowners spending $450 to $2,400 to bring an older deck back to safe use. We pull a few boards on the inspection visit, probe the framing with an awl, check the ledger flashing, and tell you straight whether you are looking at a repair, a partial rebuild, or a full tear-down. We do not push a full rebuild when a repair will hold.

Do I need a permit to build a deck in Union or Mecklenburg County?

In nearly every case, yes. Union County, Mecklenburg County, and York County (SC) all require a building permit for new decks over 30 inches off the ground, for attached decks, and for any deck with an enclosed footing or roof. We pull the permit as part of your project and coordinate the rough and final inspections. You do not have to chase any paperwork.

How long does a deck take to build?

Most pressure-treated and Trex Select decks take 5 to 10 working days on site once materials are delivered and the permit is in hand. Premium composite builds with picture-framed borders, custom stair landings, or glass railings typically run 7 to 14 days. From signed quote to finished deck, plan on 3 to 6 weeks total during the busy spring and summer season.

Composite vs pressure-treated wood - which should I pick?

Pressure-treated pine is the most affordable option at $30 per square foot installed, but it needs to be pressure-washed and stained every 2 to 3 years to look its best. Trex Select composite runs $45 per square foot and carries a 25-year fade-and-stain warranty - no staining, no splinters, no annual maintenance. Trex Transcend at $65 per square foot gets you the richest color palette and the tropical-hardwood look. If you plan to stay in the house 10+ years, composite almost always wins on total cost of ownership.

Can you match the look of my existing deck when you rebuild or extend it?

Usually yes. For pressure-treated boards, we can match stain color and plank width to blend an extension into your existing deck. For Trex, we stock or order the same color line when the product is still in production. When an older composite color has been discontinued, we will tell you up front and suggest the closest current match before any work begins.

Do you install the glass railings yourself, or is that subcontracted?

We install them ourselves. Our parent company, Pure One LLC, also runs a glass company in the Charlotte metro. That team cuts, tempers, and installs the panels, so you deal with one crew, one warranty, and one point of accountability. Most glass railing systems install in 2 to 4 days once the deck framing passes final inspection.
